Controlla is a seed-stage, VC-funded music tech startup building interactive songs that allow fans to control—and participate in—music from the creators they love. Fans can directly support artists, and both fans and artists can benefit from the creation of derivative works as remixes, collaborations, memes, and more.
Controlla is developing a new music format, a new business model, and a new relationship framework for the future of music.
The job
Controlla is seeking a full-stack XR engineer to develop in Unity. This is an opportunity to be a founding-stage developer and a key contributor to a company riding multiple waves of dramatic social, technological, and commercial disruption. At its core, the job is designing, building, testing, and maintaining new services, features, and products that enable music creators to offer immersive experiences to their fans.
Working individually and in small groups, this person will design and develop market probes and experiments that help us test our hypotheses and beliefs as we search for product-market fit. You’ll be collaborating with other engineers, designers, product managers, and marketers to rapidly scope, define, build, and deploy experiences to creators.
You will
- Experiment with ****new value for our creators in games, metaverses, and other immersive environments. From blockchain (NFT, tokenization, web3) to extended reality (augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and mixed reality), to multimedia (music, audio DSP and machine learning, 3D graphics, and visualizations).
- Deliver significant innovation and problem solving in software engineering and technology architecture.
- Support creation and maintenance of new or evolving existing offerings and assets, while evaluating the value that new capabilities could unlock for Controlla, creators, and fans.
- Be comfortable doing things for the first time, embrace the possibility of failure (and learning from it), and have disruptive orientation.
- Check in new code contributions daily.

- Advanced C# skills and experience in Unity (5.0+ strongly preferred)
- Desire to learn and grow, and able to quickly adapt to new technologies and tasks
- Passion for music, creators, and innovation
- Excitement about XR, web3, and the possibilities in these spaces
- Performance mindset with ability to self-measure goals and progress
